Best Time to Visit Kenya
How the seasons shape safari, beaches and the Great Migration.
For the river crossings of the Great Migration, aim for July through October.
Kenya is a year-round destination, but the seasons shape what you’ll see. Broadly, the dry months bring the best wildlife viewing, while the green seasons are quieter and beautiful.
Dry seasons — best for wildlife
June to October and January to February are the prime safari windows: sparse vegetation, animals gathering at water and, in the Mara, the Great Migration from July to October.
Green seasons — quieter and lush
The rains of April–May and shorter rains in November bring lower prices, newborn wildlife and dramatic skies. The coast is warmest and driest from December to March.
